St. Thomas Announcements… March 1st – 8th

This Week’s Highlights ….

Ash Wednesday:  We will have an Ash Wednesday evening worship service at 7:00 p.m. tonight, March 1.

Sunday Worship:  All St. Thomas friends and families are invited to join us for worship and communion at 10 a.m. on this first Sunday in Lent.

Leadership Team Meeting:  Leadership Team remembers are asked to meet on Sunday morning at 11:30 to review and approve the 2017 budget.  Please get your treats from the hospitality table and then bring them with you to the Pastor’s Conference room for this meeting.

New Bible Study:  The 5 week Lenten Bible study will begin next week at two times:  Wednesday 6:00 p.m. for the Soup & Study group, Thursday 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon Bible Study.  This study uses the Max Lucado book, He Chose the Nails.   This book will help you to” linger on the hill of Calvary, rub a finger on the timber and press the nail into your hand, taste the tinge of cheap wine and feel the scrape of a thorn on your brow, touch the velvet dirt, moist with the blood of God, allow the tools of torture to tell their story and listen as they tell you what God did to win your heart.”  Copies of the book are available in the church office for $11 each.

School Supplies for MMDC:  If you are unable to join our mission team as they head to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in central Illinois, you can still participate by donating items for their use.  Cleaning bucket supplies are needed and the display on the table in the narthex will provide information on what specific items are needed.  In addition, we will bulk order needed school supplies using money donated by YOU.  There is a box on that same table in which you can place your financial donations.  We will accept cash or checks (made payable to St. Thomas UMC, memo “MMDC school supplies”) for the next two weeks, ending on March 12 following worship.  At that time, all donated money will be applied to this bulk order for identified school supplies.  Thank you in advance for your funding of the important work of MMDC.
