St. Thomas Announcements… May 31st – June 7th
This Week’s Highlights ….
Sunday Worship: All St. Thomas friends and families are invited to join us for worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday for our annual celebration of Pentecost. Pastor Jeremiah’s sermon message this week is “We Were Given One Spirit”, using Acts 2:1-21 and 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13 as this week’s scripture lesson.
Shekels for Shingles: We continue to seek project specific donations to fund the replacement of the parsonage roof. This project will cost approximately $15,000 and we are just over one-third of the way there in our “Shekels for Shingles” campaign. Be sure to memo your check for this project as you make these donations.
Blood Drive & Tool Sunday: See the June edition of the Word for information about the upcoming blood drive on June 12th and the Tool Sunday/Father’s Day offering on June 18th.
A Note from the Village Vocal Chords: “On September 30 we will be holding a Craft and Vendor Fair at St. Thomas as a fund raiser for the chorus. Although we are still early in the planning process, we invite anyone in your congregation who would like to participate to let us know of their interest. We plan on having numerous types of sellers such as Mary Kay, Tupperware, etc. but only one of each kind. Although we will give first priority to our members, there are not many and we would be glad to offer priority status to anyone in your congregation who might be interested. More information will be following regarding deadlines, costs, etc. but we are hoping the space will fill quickly. In addition, any crafters who would like to participate are also more than welcome. To reserve your spot in this fair, please contact the church office. “
The Great Clean-up: On Tuesday, June 6, the St. Thomas refrigerator and the storage room behind the organ will be cleaned out and organized. If you have anything in either of these locations that is not labeled, it WILL BE DISCARDED.
Graduation Sunday; The date for our annual celebration for our graduates is yet to be determined, as we want to be sure both our college graduates are able to be with us that Sunday. If you also have a student who graduates to another level of education this spring, please let the St. Thomas office know. We need the student’s name, what level of education they are moving from and to, and, if a degree is involved we’d love the designation of what degree has been completed, along with their study major.
World Relief: The World Relief organization will again meet at St. Thomas for 6 weeks this summer, Fridays, 10 a.m. – noon, from June 9 to July 14. We need a St. Thomas volunteer or volunteers who will be present with this group. While most of their activities will be outside, weather permitting, they would need access to the building (especially during inclement weather). If you did this last year, you would not need to file forms, etc.; however, if you are new to this group there are forms to be completed prior to you working with them. Please let the St. Thomas office know asap if you can be THAT volunteer, either for 1 Friday or for all 6 Fridays. Thank you for considering providing this opportunity to these young people, new to our country.
Prayer Requests: If you would like to add someone or be added yourself to our weekly prayer list, just call the St. Thomas office 630-469-1214. This week we pray …
- For healing and successful treatments for those dealing with health concerns and for those especially dealing with cancer.
- For the caregivers, who help and support those needing their assistance.
- For families who recently lost loved ones, that they may find comfort during this time of grieving.
- For the St. Thomas congregation, praying that it will grow and thrive so that we may carry on our mission.
- For racial healing and political reconciliation throughout our country.
- For those dealing with the heartache of addictions, dementia and Alzheimer’s.
