St. Thomas Announcements…Dec. 20th – Jan. 3rd

This Week’s Highlights ….

Worship Opportunities: On Sunday, December 24, at the 10:00 a.m. service Pastor Jeremiah’s sermon is entitled, “The Light of the World”. The scripture readings for this are lessons related to the season from Isaiah 9:2-7; Psalm 96, Luke 2:1-20 and John 1:1-14.

That evening, at 6:00 p.m., we will hold our annual Candlelight Service including lots of carol singing intertwined among scripture lessons. You’ll even get a chance to select your favorite hymn to add to that service.

And on Sunday, December 31, we’ll hear a final message from the Advent Bible Study: “Down to Earth Kingdom of God” using scripture references from Revelation 21:1-6a and Mathew 25:31-46.

Come join us for one or all of these worship opportunities as we celebrate Jesus arrival on earth singing some of your favorite Christmas carols and hearing the words of scripture once again.

Pledge/Commitment cards due: Just a reminder that if you haven’t yet turned in your 2018 pledge card, the Finance Team would appreciate your getting that done immediately. The closing date of the church is dependent upon the finances that we will have to continue to pay our monthly expenses of around $18,000. You can just drop your form in the collection plate or can mail your commitment form to the St. Thomas office (2 S 511 Route 53, G.E. 60137). We are asking for a 6 month pledge in the hopes that we may be able to remain open until the end of June, but that date requires an energetic financial support of St. Thomas right now.

P.A.D.S. also needs your help: St. Thomas will be hosting the PADS program at Peace Lutheran Wednesday, Dec. 27 & 28. We are especially in need of those who will be in town to help out, as some who regularly volunteer will not be available. Please contact Martha Blumer to let her know how you can help.

St. Thomas Holiday Office Hours: To allow our staff to celebrate the season with their families, the St. Thomas office hours have been adjusted as follows:
Week of December 18: 9 am – 1:30 pm Tuesday & Thursday, 11 am – 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday
Pastor: will be in Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 26 & 27) and then will be on vacation Dec. 28 – Jan. 4. If you are in need of pastoral assistance during Pastor Jeremiah’s absence, please contact The T. Browns, who will assist you.
Administrative Assistant: Will be on vacation Friday (Dec. 22) – Saturday (Dec. 30). She will return to the office on Sunday, Dec. 31 and then Tuesday – Thursday, Jan. 2 – 4, 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. As a result, there will be no weekly announcements on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Prayer Requests: If you would like to add someone or be added yourself to our weekly prayer list, just email or call the St. Thomas office 630-469-1214. This week we pray …
• For healing and successful treatments for those dealing with health concerns and for those dealing specifically with cancer.
• For the caregivers, who help and support those needing their assistance.
• For these dealing with the loss of a loved-one during this year end.
• For the St. Thomas congregation, praying that we will be guided by God’s hand as we move forward, doing His work in the world wherever we are planted.
