St. Thomas Announcements… Jan. 17th – 24th

This Week’s Highlights ….

Worship Opportunities:  On Sunday, January 21 at the 10:00 a.m. worship service Pastor Jeremiah’s sermon from the Rise Up! series is entitled, “Move”. The scripture reading for this is from Jonah 3:1-3a, 10 and Mark 1:14-20

Pecan, Pecans….get your fresh pecans here!  Yes, UMW still has pecans to sell!  You will want to stash some in the freezer for future use, so see Sallynow.

Closing Date for St. Thomas:  The Leadership Team met on Saturday with our D.S. and have set April 1 as the closing date for St. Thomas.  Just prior to worship on March 11th the congregation will meet to vote on proceeding with this merger.  Between now and then a transition team, consisting of leaders from both STUMC and 1st UMC, will be meeting to provide guidance as we merge our two congregations.  This committee’s first meeting will be Saturday, January 20, 9am at St Thomas.  If you have concerns and comments for this process of transition, please give your feedback to the church office and we will share it with our transition team.

Bills for the Blacktop:   Did you notice the holes in the parking lot and the driveway have been filled?  It makes driving around much better, right?  But, of course, fixing something comes at a cost.  The cost for the fix came to $7000.  If you are willing and able, any donations you could make toward this expense to help pay for the blacktop would be very welcome!  Please designate your giving by marking it — for the blacktop.  Thank you!

Prayer Requests:  If you would like to add someone or be added yourself to our weekly prayer list, just email or call the St. Thomas office 630-469-1214.  This week we pray …

  • For healing and successful treatments for those dealing with health concerns and for those dealing specifically with cancer.
  • For the caregivers, who help and support those needing their assistance.
  • For these dealing with the loss of a loved-one.
  • For the St. Thomas congregation, praying that we will be guided by God’s hand as we move forward, doing His work in the world wherever we are planted.
  • For racial healing and political reconciliation throughout our country.
  • For those dealing with the heartache of addictions, dementia and Alzheimer’s.
  • For those dealing with natural disasters in their home states.
