St. Thomas Announcements… Jan. 31st – Feb. 7th

This Week’s Highlights ….

Worship Opportunities:  On Sunday, February 4 at the 10:00 a.m. worship service we will have communion, as is our custom the first Sunday of the month.  Pastor Jeremiah’s sermon from the Rise Up! series is entitled, “Focus”. The scripture reading for this is from Isaiah 40:21-31.

St. Thomas Future:  Just prior to worship on March 11th the congregation will meet to vote on proceeding with the merger of St. Thomas UMC and 1st UMC.  We also have an informational meeting scheduled for next Sunday, February 11th, at 11:30, at which time the leadership teams including Pastor Jeremiah and Pastor Daniel will be available to answer questions you might have about this process.  Between now and then a transition team, consisting of leaders from both STUMC and FUMC, have been meeting to provide guidance as we merge our two congregations.   If you have concerns and comments for this process of transition, please give your feedback to this team through the church office.

Feed My Starving Children mission project:  The confirmation class will be working at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora on Friday, Feb. 16 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.  Pastor and his wife would love additional adult assistance to accompany them.  If you can help, please let Pastor Jeremiah know by this Sunday, Feb. 4.

Bills for the Blacktop:   We are still in need of funding to pay for the cost for fixing the holes in our parking lot. If you are willing and able, any donations you could make toward this expense to help pay for the blacktop would be very welcome!  Please designate your giving by marking it — for the blacktop.  Thank you!

Prayer Requests:  If you would like to add someone or be added yourself to our weekly prayer list, just email or call the St. Thomas office 630-469-1214.  This week we pray …

  • For healing and successful treatments for those dealing with health concerns and specifically for those dealing with cancer.
  • For the caregivers, who help and support those needing their assistance.
  • For these dealing with the loss of a loved-one.
  • For the St. Thomas congregation, praying that we will be guided by God’s hand as we move forward, doing His work in the world wherever we are planted.
  • For racial healing and political reconciliation throughout our country.
  • For those dealing with the heartache of addictions, dementia and Alzheimer’s.
  • For those dealing with natural disasters in their home states.
