We invite you to be part of our effort to provide aid to Haiti in their time of need! At St. Thomas UMC we are: 1. Accepting special offerings for early relief (food, water, shelter, etc.). These monies go directly to UMCOR, which provides direct aid with a no-overhead cost. Please put your check in the normal offering plate and mark the memo area with word "Haiti." 2. Many times money is available, but the aid organizations cannot get materials (this happened during Katrina recovery). Personal health products are often on store shelves, and are scattered accross the US in thousands of stores. This resource can only be utilized by individuals going to the stores and purchasing needed items. Therefore, we are requesting friends and members of St. Thomas UMC to purchase the materials for personal health items. The list is as follows: Health Kits 1 Hand Towel (not finger-tip or kitchen size) 1 Wash Cloth 1 Comb (regular size, not pocket size, no rat-tail combs, no barber combs; Suggestion-Little Goody 2 Pack) 1 Fingernail Clipper or File (no emery boards) 1 Bar of Soap (3 oz. or larger in original wrapper) 1 Toothbrush (in original wrapper) (no multiple packs) 6 Adhesive Bandages (*Band-aids; no pictures or colors, regular size and wrapped in a rubber band) 1 Tube of Toothpaste will be purchased to make sure that product will arrive before expiration date
Purchase what you can find and drop off at the church! Do not assemble into a kit! We will take the items to Midwest Mission Distribution Center where volunteers will package the items into the personal Health Kits.
